Is Invisalign Right For Me?
Dr. Taylor offers FREE, no-obligation consultations to anyone interested in learning more about Invisalign. During the consultation, he will perform a complete exam, including a digital scan of your teeth and jaw, and can then advise you if you are a candidate for Invisalign and what your individual treatment plan would be. Fortunately, many of the same conditions that are treated with traditional braces can also able to be treated with Invisalign such as:
- Overcrowding
- Crooked teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite (upper and lower jaw doesn’t line up)
- Open bite (upper and lower teeth don’t touch)
Even if you’ve been told in the past that you are not a candidate for Invisalign, it’s worth having Dr. Taylor look. In many cases, he’s able to provide treatment based on his years of expertise and experience.
Had a great experience with Dr. Taylor & Roly (Assistant). Everyone treated me with great humor and enthusiasm, which felt very welcoming. Chose Invisalign and I don’t regret it one bit. Took less than 2 yrs to close gaps in teeth and Dr. Taylor is very meticulous with his work. I can say I have a PERFECT Smile! Thank you Dr. Taylor & Team!” – Julie R.
What Are The Benefits of Invisalign Compared to Traditional Braces?
There are several advantages to using Invisalign versus traditional braces:
- The aligners are virtually invisible which makes them perfect for adults and teens concerned about the “stigma” of regular braces.
- Invisalign braces are removed for eating and drinking so you can still eat exactly what you want! (Conventional braces have some restrictions for chewy/sticky foods)
- No extra effort needed to brush and floss around braces! (Aligners are removed)
- X-rays are taken using a digital scanner that takes a 3-D replica of your teeth without the need for goopy trays!
- Fewer office visits are needed since you can change out the aligners yourself. Only periodic check-ups are required to review progress.
Invisalign aligners are less irritating to the inside of the mouth and take less time to adjust to compared to traditional braces.
What is the Treatment Process?
Beginning with a FREE consultation with Dr. Taylor, we provide a comprehensive exam that includes digital x-rays with no goopy impressions or exposure to radiation! The digital scanner allows Dr. Taylor to show you how your teeth should look after treatment! This technology also allows him to digitally design each individual aligner that will move the teeth to the desired end result. The designs are then sent directly to Invisalign where they will be created to the exact specifications for your teeth. They are then sent to our office, custom-made just for you, and ready to use!
I am so appreciative to Dr Taylor and staff for restoring my confidence. I’m no longer embarrassed to smile anymore. I was a candidate for the Invisalign treatment and I don’t regret choosing it over traditional braces. I definitely recommend their services and their professionalism. Staff is pleasant and patient and caring to your dental sensitivities. Special thanks to Rolando for being extra patient with me. Thank you all for your great service and cleanliness!” – Janie O.

How do the Aligners Move My Teeth?
There is some preparation work that needs to be done to your teeth in order to prepare them for the aligners. Dr. Taylor will bond a series of “attachments” or “bumps” to the teeth so there is something for the aligners to grip to. These attachments are small and will match the color of your teeth. They’re applied in a way that will help your move your teeth in the correct direction. Each aligner will move your teeth into the desired position, and then when you switch out your aligner, your next one will continue to move your teeth and so on. Once you have used the entire set of aligners, your teeth will be properly aligned and you will have that beautiful smile that you’ve always dreamed of!
You will be given all of your aligners at the beginning of treatment and Dr. Taylor will advise you on how often they should be changed out and how often you should come into the office for a progress check.
How Long Will I Have to Wear My Aligners?
Length of treatment can vary depending on your particular situation such as how complex your case is. At your Free Consultation, Dr. Taylor will be able to determine how long your individual treatment will take. In general, treatment can last between 1 and 2 years.
How Do I Care for My Aligners?
Aligners are made out of plastic and need to be cleaned every time they are removed such as when eating, drinking, brushing your teeth, flossing, etc. To clean them, it is recommended that you use antibacterial soap and a soft toothbrush. This will prevent any build-up from occurring on the insides of the aligners and keep them sanitary when they are placed back over your teeth.
Do not use any harsh cleaners including any with strong scents or dyes to clean the aligners. These types of chemicals can cause the plastic to stain or scratch. It’s a good idea to soak your aligners once per day in either denture cleaner or Invisalign Crystals which are first dissolved in water before use.
Be careful that you put your aligners in their designated tray while eating or drinking. A common mistake is to set them aside on a napkin while eating, and then accidentally throw the napkin away along with the aligners! You also should not put them in a place where they could become damaged or contaminated.
Make sure and brush your teeth after each meal before putting the aligner back in your mouth. This will prevent residual food particles or bacteria from being trapped between your teeth and your aligner, which can lead to cavities.
How Will Invisalign Affect My Lifestyle?
The great thing about Invisalign is that your aligners are basically invisible so others won’t know that you are wearing them.
Additionally, since they are removed for drinking, eating, and brushing, and flossing, you will have no restrictions on what you and can’t eat. You will want to clean your mouth and aligners regularly after each meal or drink so no food gets caught between the aligners and your teeth.
Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day for your treatment plan to stay on schedule.
You can expect to feel some mild discomfort when you begin your Invisalign treatment because your teeth are slowly starting to move. This usually only lasts for a day or two, but you may also notice this when you change aligners as well.
When first getting Invisalign, your tongue will have to get used to having the aligners in the mouth and you may notice a slight lisp for a few days until you are used to wearing them.
I am officially off my aligners and couldn’t be happier with my Smile! I enjoyed my time coming to every appointment & the staff was always friendly, funny and great! The best part was Dr. Taylor’s team working with me since I moved to Austin and still came down for my regular check ups. Watching the movies while waiting is definitely a plus! Overall the experience was a great one and I definitely would recommend this facility to everyone!” – Nohemi R.
What Should I Expect After Completing Invisalign Treatment?
Usually, a retainer is required to prevent your teeth from shifting back to their previous condition. There are different types of retainers and Dr. Taylor will help you decide which is the best option for you. You will first wear your retainer full time, however, Dr. Taylor will go over with you when you can gradually start to reduce wearing them until you are only wearing them at night.
What is The Cost of Invisalign?
In the majority of cases, the cost of Invisalign is similar to the cost of braces, though the cost may vary depending on the severity of each case and the length of treatment that will be needed.
The best way to get an estimate of cost for your particular needs is to come in for a Free Consultation with Dr. Taylor. Once he is able to complete his exam, he will be able to give you a more exact idea of what to expect with the cost. Additionally, our goal is to make Invisalign treatment as affordable as possible so we do offer:
- $500 off of your Invisalign Treatment
- Affordable, in-house monthly payment plans with no credit check for those who need financial assistance
